Mt. San Primo (1685 m.) is just a few kilometres from Bellagio; from its summit an incomparable panorama may be enjoyed. There are 2 ski lifts for a total of 5 kilometres of ski slopes, and a slope dedicated to bobsledding and sledding. San Primo is the Larian Triangle's highest mountain, and thanks to its central position it offers an incredibly beautiful view of Como's Prealps.
Up until the last century, the people of Bellagio had the tradition of reaching Mt. San Primo by procession in order to shoot fireworks at the beginning of the summer. On the summit, prior to the 15 th century, there was actually a church dedicated to Saint Primo and Saint Feliciano; the fame of these two Christian martyrs was tied to an episode that happened to them: sentenced to death, the were placed in the company of some bears who, instead of mauling them, laid themselves at their feet.
The summit of mount San Primo can be reached in 2-3 hours by foot, departing from Genzianella, it is a fascinating, not too difficult excursion, and once at the top the stupendous view of lake Como will pay back all your hard work. Descending towards Magreglio we come upon the Santuario del Ghisallo, the church called the Madonna of Ghisallo, proclaimed the Patron Saint of Cyclists by Pope Pius the 12 th in 1946, inside of which are the bicycles and memorabilia of the heroes that have rendered the sport famous.
In Pian Rancio we would like to mention Chalet Gabriele Polentoteca (polenta bar), with the area's typical dishes, optimal cuisine and a fantastic panorama. A little farther ahead we find the restaurant-hotel La Genzianella where you can enjoy the Toc, an original dish of the ancient Bellagio tradition. A stroll up to the Martina shelter, on the Alpe dei Picitt, is a must-see.
Menaggio's particularly mild climate, ventilated by two winds known as Breva and Tivano, and its optimal sunny position allows for a surprising flora along the lake shore. Its supply of receptive and sporting facilities is excellent.Menaggio
